God jul och gott nytt år

Merry christmas and happy new year!

Last semester was a blast, and a relaxing time I really got to focus on making things. I have a bunch of new prints, a load of books (soon to be for sale on etsy) and a newly renewed understanding that I am not a painter. But I really fell in love with book making. With the prospect of graduating early, I'm starting to evaluate where my strengths, weaknesses and joys lie. Sounds super lame, but with the winter break and my job being pretty dead, I have a lot of time to mull things over.

Anyhow, here are a few pictures of my books.

Giving Thanks

'Tis the season! I hope this November has been treating you as lovingly as mine has. It's been a month of books, birthday, and basking in my sunny bed. Right now I am updating images on my website, so ya'll can get a taste for what I've been up to and have a private laugh along with me at how I'm hoodwinking clients into thinking I am a working professional.

Since it's the time of year we take stock, here is a short list of what I am thankful for:

My family and friends.
My roommates and our apartment.
My job and semi-easy school schedule.
That people are buying books I post to amazon.
The sewing machine my mom bought me.
Library cards.
My flights home for the holidays.

I hope the season leaves you warm, fuzzy, and stuffed.

Junior

Hello One and All,

A new semester, a new apartment, a brand new me. This semester, six of my 18 credits are registered as completed internships. That translates to a very light load this semester! And what better way to celebrate that than getting a job. I now work at AIB academic Computing aka the digital lab. Basically it’s the Geek Squad of art school. It’s not a bad gig.

But my classes are oh-so-exciting. I have Visual Books - a book making class. Op-Ed -an editorial illustration class, Techniques: Opaque - learning to master oils and acrylics, Natural History Drawing - drawing flora and fauna and putting them to practical use, Intaglio II – more printmaking.

Here are a few pixs to give you a taste of how the first month has progressed.

p.s. a new Konst-Igt is out! Let me know if you want one fo’ free!

Back to School

As an exciting summer draws to a close, a much anticipated junior year begins! This semester will be taking the following courses:

Techniques in Opaque Media
Visual Books
Op-Ed Illustration
Intaglio II
Natural History Drawing

I am also continuing to pursue my zine with Adele Tobin. So far we have the original 24 page zine, and now a smaller one that's lilac, and plans for an upcoming zine about tolls! See more stuff from us here!

Camp!

So, loyal readers, I am now at Swedish language camp! It is a whole lot of fun, but I am terribly busy. Being the "artsy-est" out of the bunch, I am often assigned what I like to think of as small, unpaid, freelance illustration gigs. That aside, there is a concept at camp called "synggpost" which literally translates to cute mail. It is inner camp mail, like little notes and such, that are put into a big box in the dining hall and delt out daily. I have made a set of nine for the girls in my cabin, with roughly the same set up. Here are a few.

Konst-igt

Hello all!

Just posting to say that Adele Tobin and I have created a zine called Konst-igt. It is a collage of works from our sketch books and we hope you lucky few who got one, like it! Worry not, outsiders, we also have a tumblr feed, and hope to bring distribution to an unimaginable standard once I have returned from my stint as a camp counselor at a Swedish language immersion camp.

We actually have a few left, so if you would like one, please, let me know!

Twaggies

Recently, I have been working with David Israel, the driving force behind Twaggies dot com. The idea is simple, giving select tweets an illustration, and in my opinion, giving this 140 character or less sentiment slightly more value. Right now, I have three posted, all sketches that were colorized in photoshop.
